Wine Legends Part Two. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Nominations can now be made for the 2014 Legends of Washington Wine Hall of Fame. There have been a few minor changes this year to the selection process and in the timing of the nominations. Abby Cameron is the Director of Events and Marketing for the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center.

CAMERON: We’ve moved the time frame up for nominations. We usually do this process in February but we’ve moved it to November/December this year. And that’s so that when we have the legends selected we can then move into the process of selecting our winemaker and hopefully tie the winemaker to our inductee. We’ve selected them independently previously

This is the seventh annual legends event. Cameron talks about who can nominate a legend.

CAMERON: Anyone can nominate. Again the criteria are that someone has been in the industry and in Washington for 25 years. It can be a wine maker, a grower, a researcher, media really kind of anything that has just helped this industry get to where it is today. There’s a form to fill out to give us that information. We do ask for two additional supporters of the nominations and we hope to get those all in by December 2nd and then complete our review process.

The Legends Gala honoring the 2014 inductee will be hosted at the Walter Clore Wine & Culinary Center on the evening of Friday, August 8, 2014.
