5-22 IAT Cruiser Maxx
In the last couple of weeks, I have talked to local entomologists who have predicted big problems on the come with Japanese beetles. It has to do with relatively mild winters.
The crystal ball is still fuzzy - but experts and researchers already have a strong premonition that insect pests are on their way to a bean field near you this season. According to Rich Lee - Agronomic Service Representative for Syngenta - another mild winter coupled with early-season moisture might be creating a perfect potion to help insect pests thrive in beans this year. Specifically - the bean leaf beetle and Japanese beetle are both expected to be significant problems for growers again this season. Lee says bean leaf beetle populations often depend heavily on both the present and past seasons’ weather conditions:
“Bean leaf beetle populations tend to accumulate after mild winters. If you start saying them back to back, you are going to start to see a build up of the Bean leaf beetle population. The more mild winters we have in a row, the higher the probability of a Bean leaf beetle problem. One of the most effective things that somebody can do for Bean leaf beetles, especially early-season Bean leaf beetles, is to plant Cruiser Maxx Bean seed, that just knocks them out. Later on in the season, we can go in with a number of different products.
