4-25 IAN National Cowboy Day
National Cowboy Day
My Ag Information Network colleague, Greg Martin, was the point man for getting the State House and Senate to adopt resolutions for Washington State to recognize the National Day of the Cowboy. We hope in the next year to have it passed as a permanent bill with the Governor's signature. “The group out of Arizona has been trying to get a National Day of the Cowboy and the federal level has been very difficult so we decided to chop it up into 50 individual pieces and attack it from that front by going to individual state looking for that kind of either resolution or something passed in perpetuity so that it would be type of a permanent type of thing. We got hold of the Senate and House and we passed it for one year, a resolution that says that day is going to be the National Day of the Cowboy. Kind of like Lincoln’s birthday, we are recognizing the importance of the cowboy to the heritage of our country. Is that a fair statement? I think that is a super fair statement because the cowboy has always been there and probably always will be. we recognize how important the cowboy is when we think about beef producers and their contribution to the food chain. Yes because you and I are probably not going to go out on the range and the chasing that beef down I am sure.
