Hort Moves South

Hort Moves South. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

For the past 109 years the annual Washington State Horticulture Association’s meeting and expo have been trading back and for between Yakima and Wenatchee. This year has brought on a change that has been asked for by many attendees according to the Ag Networks KayDee Gilkey.

GILKEY: The WSHA Board of Directors voted to hold the 2014 Annual Meeting and Hort Expo at the Three Rivers Convention Center and the Town Toyota Center in Kennewick. There have been requests for years from members to add Tri Cities into the rotation. The core function of education will not change and they hope to being the same enthusiasm and quality of convention to the Tri Cities.

Thanks. The Tri-Cities is known for its rich and abundant agricultural industry and has been hosting more and more ag events ever since the completion of the new convention center several years ago. The President and CEO of the Tri Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau, Kris Watkins said that “Not only will this event bring in educational opportunities and the latest techniques to our local growers; it will also attract 1,500 visiting tree fruit growers from throughout the state.” For more information on the 2013 Hort Show visit their website at www.wahort.org.
