NCBA and BI Partner to Offer Free BQA Certification
I’m KayDee Gilkey with today’s Open Range.
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association has announced that Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. is partnering with the Beef Quality Assurance program.
The cost of BQA certification is normally 25 to 50-dollars - but that won’t be the case until March 15th.Director of Cattle Marketing for BI Dave Korbelik says the cattle industry is at the heart of their business and the company is proud to be part of BQA.
Korbelik: “They can go online and we are offsetting that cost during that window, so it is free of charge. So they can go through the modules at the end of the modules they can become certified or recertified if it has been a few years since they went through the process.”
BQA provides cattlemen with the tools they need to produce the safest, highest quality beef in the world while also looking at ways to make their operations more efficient and productive. Korbelik says it’s a win-win to get more producers involved.
Korbelik: “It just improves the quality of beef in general for the end consumer. Actually the Beef Quality Assurance modules --its really about good quality management throughout the process of raising and growing beef animals. It’s an opportunity for them to do what is right for the animal. It builds their business in the long-run and obviously it is the right thing to do for the cattle industry as well.”
