Spokane Ag Expo Opens Next Week

I’m KayDee Gilkey with today’s Northwest Farm and Ranch Report.

It is time for the 36th annual Spokane Ag Expo and Pacific Northwest Farm Forum, happening at the Spokane Convention Center next week, February 5th through the 7th. And the Pacific Northwest Direct Seed and Cropping Systems Conference will be held on the 6th and 7th.

Spokane Ag Expo Board member Ryan Kile says there will be lots to enjoy and learn about during the three day event.

Kile: “I think one of the reasons that producers within the Pacific Northwest should attend our Spokane Ag Expo is that it is one of the largest Ag Expos between here and Minneapolis. We have an excess of 250 exhibitors and over 100,000 square feet within the convention center. It is packed full with some of the newest equipment and technology that is currently available in the ag market place.”

The Pacific Northwest Farm Forum has some exciting speakers lined up. Tuesday, always a crowd-favorite Emeritus professor and weatherman Art Douglas will give his long range weather forecast for the Pacific Northwest. Far West Agribusiness Executive Director Jim Fitzgerald will share what farmers can expect with ag input costs. On Wednesday, Kevin Van Trump, President of Farm Direction, will share his insight and forecast for the grain future markets.

Kile says that in addition to the Farm Forum and visiting all the exhibitors, Spokane Ag Expo provides ag producers with a networking opportunity.

Kile: “It’s a great place for our ag producers to connect with other producers that they have met over the years. And kinda catch up with them about what is going on in their region with production and crops and even on the livestock side. Overall it is a great place to network.”
