I’m KayDee Gilkey with today’s Open Range.

Usually Mid-west corn-fed beef is the benchmark in the restaurant business when reaching for the pinnacle of an beef eating experience. Well, not so at the Metropolitan Grill in Seattle. They proudly serve Pacific Northwest beef and selected it among many worldwide choices in a blind taste test. It has been on their menu ever since.

Agri Beef Executive Vice President Rick Stott, explains why Double R Ranch beef is now the beef of choice at this premium Seattle eatery.

Stott: “One of the things that they said is, ‘We appreciate that you are local, we appreciate that you are environmental sustainable, and you have all those great practices. We appreciate your animal welfare. But the fact is we picked you because you are the best product in the market place.’”

Stott credits the entire Northwest Pacific beef industry and all of its segments in providing a top quality and delicious product.

Stott: “We felt pretty good about doing that. And that is quite frankly, a result of great genetics that come from the Northwest cattle producers. It comes from the production system that we have in the Northwest amongst 70 feedlot producers that we buy our cattle from and the packing plant and the great job that they do in producing our product. All those things combined provided us with the opportunity to promote the product.”

So next time you are in Seattle and want a good beef eating experience head to the Metropolitan Grill.
