Wine Grape Annual Meeting

Wine Grape Annual Meeting

Wine Grape Annual Meeting. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

The 2013 Wine Grape Annual Meeting and Trade Show is coming up the 5-8 of February at the Toyota Center in Kennewick and Executive Director Vicky Scharlau says you still have a chance to save some money.

SCHARLAU: Yes. They could save a lot of money by registering today because today is the cut-off at 5 o’clock for the early-bird sign up. People can still register but the prices do go up considerably between now and when the convention starts and there’s also the opportunity to register for single sessions.

The first day has a tasting room staff training as well as some other special sessions.

SCHARLAU: The focus for the convention this year is superior quality by design. So our grand tasting session is a look at red blends also by design. We have our Spanish speaking staff training that’s also the perfect wine grape by design and we have an industry short course that’s going to be talking about a year in the life of a grape.

You can register on their website at wawgg.org and Scharlau says the last day as some unique sessions.

SCHARLAU: One is focusing on smoke taint. One focuses on immigration reform and how it is driving mechanization and then we have two sessions that have the wine commission talking about marketing. One on leveraging wine tourism and the other one talking about strategic marketing for the winery and how to apply it.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
