1-16 IAT Foltz Chat

A chat with interim dean of U of I’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. I’m David Sparks... I asked a very practical question of Dr. John Foltz: “ as you look at career paths and opportunities, do you encourage students to get into agriculture? Oh most  definitely. A lot of that comes from the last 8 years serving as associate Dean for academic programs looking at job outlook for students that come into our college and recruiting them to come to the University of Idaho in and major one of our areas of agricultural sciences. The outlook continues to be  good. I remember the words from my father saying people always have to eat. That means job security for people in agriculture sciences and the related areas. More broadly in our college where we include family and consumer sciences, most people where clothes too and so that falls into areas of clothing, textiles and design. Nutrition is certainly a growing area. We look at how do we lengthen people’s lives and we develop nutraceuticals. All of those things offer great job opportunities.
