The Seasons of Linda

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the U.S. Potato Update after this.

The United States Potato Board is refining their market research to continue to speak clearly to their target demographic: women age 25 to 54 with children under 18 at home, fondly referred as Linda.

The USPB’s new marketing campaign revolves around the seasons, leveraging potatoes’ unique qualities and recognizing that each season is tied to different routines. Meredith Myers, USPB Public Relations Manager shares the year’s seasons, according to Linda.

Myers: “The five distinct seasons that we have identified are as follows: Nurture Me season which is January and February; we’ve go Spring Ahead which is March, April, May; lighten up which is the summer months; then of course then we Get Back on Track which is the season we are now in which is September and October season where the kids are going back to school; finally we round out the year with Plus Up Potatoes and that is where we go beyond what is the traditional holiday potato fare and we plus those potatoes up and encourage other uses like appetizers. With all of these seasons, we know that there are specific emotions, specific things that Linda is feeling about her life, her pace, her family and of course the food that she is serving to her family.”

This was the U.S. Potato Update brought to you by the United States Potato Board, maximizing return on grower investment. I’m KayDee Gilkey on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
