Dining And Educating Influencers

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the U.S. Potato Update.

In July the United States Potato Board hosted a dinner for some of the biggest names in Washington D.C’s food media, bloggers and nutritionist circles to share more positive information about U.S. potatoes.

USPB Public Relations Manager Meredith Myers shares more details about the event.

Myers: “The whole idea behind this was to have an intimate setting where we could talk and discuss potato nutrition, get to know these influencers, understand the kind of information they needed, and what kind of research and backup they needed to tell the story to their audiences.”

Myers shares some of the positive media results that have already occurred.

Myers: “What is so exciting is that we are already seen coverage, lots of interest in telling about the dinner. In Huffington Post in the Capital Cooking with Lauren DeSantis. We saw blog posts about the dinner and about how amazing the dinner was and talking about the nutritional benefits of potatoes. We’re very excited to say that National Public Radio aired a segment called Extreme Makeover the Potato Edition.”

This was the U.S. Potato Update brought to you by the United States Potato Board, maximizing return on grower investment. I’m KayDee Gilkey on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
