Social Media Buzz Using Kids
I have been noticing a new marketing trend, using kids to create a social media buzz and apparently it’s working. I’m Susan Allen when Open Range returns I’ll share a couple of financial opportunities within the livestock/ag industry designed for that purpose. Good marketers like the Mustang Heritage Foundation and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association have tapped into the new trend of using tech-savvy youth to create a social media buzz for their organizations. The Mustang Heritage Foundation a very forward thinking group responsible for training and placing thousands of wild horses now will pay kids for on-line projects that include researching the history, plight and current issues surrounding the American Mustang and then sharing this knowledge with others through social networking, press releases and community presentations creating a great opportunity to learn PR. Also as part of the Beef Check-off, American National CattleWomen, Inc. have launched a video blog contest designed to engage youth in telling the beef story. Videos are two minutes or less and should focus on eight topics they’ve posted at the Check-off youthbeefstory website. The grand prize is $750 and a trip to next year’s NCBA convention. Second prize is $250 so if you’ve got a young person in your home that’s handy with a camera get those creative juices flowing the contest runs until March 23rd.
