Years ago the Forest Service created the character of Smokey Bear to get our attention regarding forest fires. Now the US Forest Service is using Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax” to promote more activity in our nation's forests according to Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell.

TIDWELL: Using the characters from Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax” from this major film, the public service announcements will encourage viewers to go to the campaign website which is discovertheforest.org because you can go there and you can find where there’s opportunities where you live. Whether you want to go for a hike, a walk or you want to go canoeing, to ride a bicycle, so that’s the other key thing is it encourages people to not only go outdoors but here’a a great tool to be able to help you, help your family be able to know where you can go.

A number of organizations are warning about a new form of caffeine which is inhaled as a mist. The caffeine inhalers come in tubes about the size of a lipstick container. Each dose contains 100 milligrams of caffeine, roughly the amount found in a large cup of coffee. Since the products are sold as supplements, they do not have to meet FDA guidelines. Sen. Charles Schumer says the FDA will look into the product to see if it’s dangerous for teens and others. The groups are warning that there is a great risk if the inhalers are used in conjunction with alcohol.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange report.
