2-2 FB FFA Benefits
In a recent conversation with Ben Meyer who Is the Ag & Natural Resources Program Manager and Idaho State FFA Advisor, I asked some questions regarding how FFA kids seem to excel. “Is it fair to say that kids who are involved with FFA are going to end up more successful academically, whether it’s farming or any other kind of business, good leadership and staying out of trouble? Certainly. We pride ourselves in keeping students busy. To be involved with FFA is actually to be involved with 3 different things during their high school years, they have to take an agriculture education class, which is demanding on their time, but beneficial and they get a lot out of that, they also have to have a supervised agricultural experience which is a home based project or a work based project where students are either working in the field of agriculture or starting their own small business or starting some sort of agricultural research so their time is occupied that way and they are really investing in their communities. There are a lot of local programs that have extensive data showing how much money is invest it at the local level through student projects each year. When a student gets busy throughout all of these 3 different things there is a lot less time for some of those other items that you mentioned earlier.
