1-2 SS Tricky Buck

Folks who do a lot of hunting for bull elk or whitetail bucks realize that the size of the racks they see are directly related to the age of these beautiful animals that we seek out. So how do white tail bucks, for example, get older? Well it involves having an adequate food supply, outsmarting those animals that would prey upon them, including humans, and just being plain old smart.  In a recent Whitetail trip, Brian England found out just how smart a deer can be.  “Today we saw a monster buck.  We were driving up into our tower and we didn’t know if it was going to run off or anything but it didn’tSo we got into the tower and we watched him for about 2 hours. As the cars would drive by the deer would drop down so you couldn’t see it. Then when the car passed by it would jump right back up and then start walking and then duck down when the next car came by. It started walking towards us and then took off toward the side and then went across the road. Your heart just drops when that happens because you lose your opportunity. You know it is on somebody else’s property and you can’t do anything about it. My guess is that this big guy has lived so long because he has learned to duck  when he senses human activity. Definitely. I have never seen anything like it before. It was like a spy that was dropping down and working its way around and cannot find him.”
