Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran, and as many of you know, my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. Because I just don't drink wine that I don't like. In the light of our weeklong series about New Zealand, I have been tasting several Sauvignon Blanc's, and today I am going to share some of my favorites with you.
Ahhh, the pleasure of tasting through so many great wines. When buying wines from this region, an important thing to remember, is that our seasons are reversed from those of New Zealand. The vintage year harvest was earlier and the wine is actually older when you buy it from New Zealand than it is from that of the United States or Europe. When it comes to New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc it is difficult to select a favorite. So, instead of picking just one, I will share a few wines that are all equally good for different reasons. If you are just becoming acquainted with New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc chances are you may have had one from the producer Cloudy Bay. The wines are sound and very good examples of the region. If you are ready to explore a new wine, try Kim Crawford from Marlborough, with its citrus and tropical fruit it is a medium bodied mouthwatering wine. If you like a wine with a bit more mineral quality perhaps one that you might enjoy is a Sauvignon Blanc from the producer Pegasus Bay. If you have any trouble finding wines from New Zealand ask your local wine merchant to order them for you. So try the wines of New Zealand and taste the difference for yourself! Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
