Military Hero of the Day

I’m Greg Martin with today’s AgriBeef Minute. The Idaho Beef Council is honoring the servicemen and women of the state with the Military Hero of the Day. Traci O’Donnell, Executive Director of the Council explains.
O’DONNELL: It’s a new program for us that the Beef Council partnered with the Idaho Steelheads hockey to honor local military heroes. For us, we’re grateful to these men and women who have bravely served our country and protect our freedom so it’s a great way to honor them and recognize them for the efforts that they have done.
They are honoring 5 military heroes during the current hockey season. The first one was awarded on December 10th. They are currently seeking nominations.
O’DONNELL: The contest itself is open to both active duty as well as retired military personnel from any of the branches. And then to nominate someone a listener can send a short essay and photo about the individual to steelheadshero@ idahosteelheads.com or they can visit the Idaho Beef Council website at idbeef.org.
O’Donnell describes the prize.
O’DONNELL: The recipients that we select will be honored with an on ice presentation during the game; they get to drop the first puck; they and their family get to enjoy the hockey game and a full kind of hockey prize package is being given to the five recipients that we are honoring.
