11-16 FB 4-H & FFA

If you are a kid, living in today’s world can lead to some pretty serious challenges. One way to avert getting in with the wrong crowd and doing the wrong thing is to involve yourself with organizations, structured activities. Parents, I’ll tell you where to find those in a minute. I have long been an advocate for keeping kids involved with structured activities. Its parenting 101. Give kids lots of time on their hands with nothing to do and nothing good can come from it. Which brings up the topic of a couple of agriculturally oriented organizations where you cannot go wrong as a parent. Get your kids involved with FFA and 4-H. Here’s Ben Meyer Is the Ag & Natural Resources Program Manager and Idaho State FFA Advisor. The 2 programs are absolutely wonderful complements to each other. I think students who are engaged in 4-H and FFA develop a subset of skills that really pay off in life,  a lot of the soft skills that employers look for are developed early in life by joining 4-H at about age 8 or 9 and then working their way on through and I think we have some excellent youth who participate in both organizations through graduation of high school. The networking and the out reach of 4-H along with involvement with communities and adults is 2nd to none. Both organizations complement each other beautifully.
