The River runs through it in real life.Tom Dean, an avid fly fisherman from Great Falls Montana, started a career out of nowhere by creating beautifully unique woodcarvings of trout and steelhead. But years ago, he had an intriguing experience that was all about Hollywood, Brad Pitt and being a stand-in for the movie the River Runs through It. “I started to fly fish at the age of 6, so I am passionate about flyfishing. Speaking of flyfishing, you must be a handsome guy, because you were a stand-in for Brad Pitt in the movie the River Runs through It. When they were filming River Runs through It down in Livingston Montana they had a call for casters. At that time I was single and free and no responsibilities so I went down and I actually ended up being 3rd in line for one of the false casters. So that was pretty cool, I didn’t get number 1, but number 3 was pretty neat. Was Brad Pitt around? I only saw Brad Pitt once. He came around and he introduced himself, he was a great guy and at that point he then went off and we never really did see him. We were out on the Yellowstone River and we were just guys who were dressed up and then we would do a long cast, a shadow cast, a roll cast, sidearm and every imaginable test that you could do.
