Cattlemen and hunters seek delisting of wolf in eastern third of Washington
Washington Ag Today October 6, 2011 The Washington Cattlemen’s Association and Hunter Heritage Council have filed a state petition for the Delisting of the Federally Delisted Gray Wolf in the eastern 1/3 of Washington. Dave Duncan, WCA Wildlife/Rancher/Sportsman/ESA Committee Chairman, says the present ESA driven recovery plan is unacceptable to affected stakeholders. He says the current plan has no finish line and will lead to endless litigation. Both the cattlemen and hunters group believe the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife should classify the Gray Wolf as a Big Game Species, providing the wolf with adequate protections like other game species. Now this from Stockland Livestock. This is Jack McQuinness here at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. We are looking forward to a big weekend. We have over two-thousand cattle on the books. Could end up with 25-hundred before we are finished. Then we will roll into Monday with another big run of feeder cattle. All classes will sell Monday the tenth. This Saturday all classes of feeder cattle. We have our big rancher appreciation barbecue with our Customer Appreciation Day. We will start that at 11 o’clock. All you ranchers and stockmen are invited to come and join us. The sale will start at one o’clock. So that is all happening here at Stockland at Davenport this week. We are working on a great feeder market. Hope to see some of you at our upcoming sales. Stockland in Davenport. Thanks for listening. Thanks Jack. I’m Bob Hoff.
