Wildlife Commission to discuss Wolf Plan again

Wildlife Commission to discuss Wolf Plan again

Washington Ag Today October 4, 20011 The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will discuss the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s recommended Wolf Conservation and Management plan during a special meeting this Thursday, October 6th. That meeting is being held in Olympia beginning at nine a.m. at the Natural Resources Building. The meeting’s focus will be on wolves’ interaction with livestock and ungulates.

The commission has scheduled another meeting on the wolf plan November 3rd in Olympia. The commission is expected to take action on the plan in December.

Now the Stockland Livestock Report.

This is Jack McQuinness at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. We had a big sale, 600 head on the market. Cows and bulls lower again. We were in high 40s low 50s on most the cows with the top at 60. Bulls topped at 72 and we will call that two to three lower as well. Good news. Feeder cattle sharply higher on all weights and classes. That’s in anticipation of higher fed cattle prices and lower numbers on feed here last week. We are looking for our big sale coming up this Saturday. It is Customer Appreciation Day. We have lots of cattle on the books, well over 2000. If some of you ranchers want to get in here and take a look at the sale you are welcome. We will have a free steak dinner and a lots of activities. Cow sale begins at One O’clock. That is all on Saturday. We will carry over into Monday with another big sale. That’s here at Stockland Livestock in Davenport.

Thanks Jack.
