Wine Tasting Center

Wine Tasting Center. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

There are a lot of ways to market your products but one very effective and efficient way is through partnerships. Roger Clute, executive director of the Wenatchee Valley Visitors Bureau talks about a new partnership they have become involved with.

CLUTE: Wine tourism is a burgeoning industry here in north central Washington. There are about 50 wineries within a 30-mile radius of Wenatchee. So we are part of wine tourism ad decided to put in a tasting room in our visitor center and as far as I know it’s only the second wine tasting within a facility within a visitor center in Washington State.

Yakima was the first until now. Clute says they are working with a number of wineries.

CLUTE: We formed a marketing partnership with 4 wineries within an organization called the Wenatchee Wine Country. Each of those paid a small fee to be marketing partners with us and in turn we purchase their wine and feature their wine in our tasting room.

They have a unique way to allow people to sample the wines.

CLUTE: It’s called a wine station and it holds 4 bottles of opened wine and they dispense an exact amount of wine, whatever you program into it. It could be 1 oz., 2 oz., 3 oz., 4 oz. And we rotate since we have 8 wineries, 4 wineries each week. We just opened this facility last Friday so it’s very new.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
