More on TAP. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Mother Nature can sure throw ag producers a few curve balls in a growing season and it’s nice to know that if necessary there are programs out there to assist you in Chris Bieker, Outreach Coordinator with Farm Service Agency Tree Assistance Program or TAP talks about the deadline.

BIEKER: There is a deadline and it’s 90 days from when the damage is apparent or the disaster occurs. In this case because the damage isn’t apparent right away, it’s going to be 90 days from when the damage is apparent. That’s for applying for the program.

FSA’s Tree Assistance Program provides financial assistance to qualifying orchardists and nursery tree growers to replant or rehabilitate eligible trees, bushes and vines damaged by natural disasters occurring To qualify for TAP, orchardists and nursery tree growers must: Suffer qualifying tree, bush or vine losses in excess of 15 percent (adjusted for normal mortality) from an eligible natural disaster for the individual stand; Have owned the eligible trees, bushes and vines when the natural disaster occurred; however, eligible growers are not required to own the land on which eligible trees, bushes and vines are planted; Replace eligible trees, bushes and vines within 12 months from the date the application is approved.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
