State ACRE revenue triggers met in PNW for 2009 wheat and barley

Farm and Ranch October 4, 2010 The USDA recently announced state induced revenue triggers for the Average Crop Revenue Election, or ACRE program, for three commodity groups.

Coppess: “What we do know today is that 39 states have triggered for wheat, 29 states for oats and 27 states for barley.”

Farm Service Agency administrator Jonathan Coppess who says states reaching ACRE revenue triggers now allow individual farmers in those states that participated in ACRE to possibly receive payments for the 2009 crop.

Coppess: “The state will trigger which then the farmers inside the state then will have to trigger on their own individual farm basis.”

The state level revenue trigger for wheat was met in all three Pacific Northwest states, Washington, Oregon and Idaho as was the state level barley trigger. Oregon was triggered for non-irrigated oats. It is yet to be determined if oats will be triggered in Washington and Idaho.

Coppess: “For any producer that is signed up for ACRE we encourage them to check in with their county office as far as the state trigger and then once there state is in, whether they have individual farm triggers.”

USDA says it will announce states meeting the revenue trigger for 2009-10 marketing year corn, dry peas and lentils on September 29th. For small and large chickpeas and small oilseeds an announcement will be made November 30th.
