Harvest Time GRAS2P Tips

Harvest Time GRAS2P Tips. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. It is harvest time here in the northwest and that means a lot of activity from a lot of people and unfortunately that can mean accidents on the farm. The Washington State Horticultural Association has created the GRAS2P program or Growers Response To Agricultural Safe And Sustainable Practices. It's a tree fruit industry grower-based effort for audit readiness, food safety operating procedures, establishment of standards for sustainable practices, traceability from market back to farm, and continued use of good agricultural practices in orchards. And during this harvest time they would like to remind growers to be safe and prepared. Now is a great time to update your First Aid kits. Verify they are stocked & clean, & document it. Have one at the office, shop, chemical shed & in your truck. It is also a great time to review your Emergency Action Plan. Make sure that procedures are posted, multi-lingual (if appropriate to your work force), visible, and accessible. The top half of the Emergency Information Sheet in the front pocket of your GRAS2P Guidance Manual can be visually displayed. If you'd like more information on the GRAS2P program visit the website at www.gras2p.com That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
