Wine Grape Meeting Part 2

Wine Grape Meeting Part 2

Wine Grape Meeting Part 2. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

The 2010 Annual Meeting of the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers gets underway this week and is a perfect place for industry people to connect according to the Executive Director, Vicky Scharlau.

SCHARLAU: We’ve got sessions for the novice wine grape grower talking about planting, how to source clean plants, why clean plants are important and we also talk about flaws in wine which would be targeted at the technically trained and degreed winemaker from across the state and actually from the Pacific Northwest because we get attendance from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia and some from California.

Besides all the seminars and the trade show there is an important business meeting.

SCHARLAU: And it is the actual meeting of the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers so we have our business meeting actually very early on Thursday morning and then we cap off that day with our annual celebrating the industry dinner, our banquet and we have a guest chef that comes in every year. This year it’s Jason Wilson from the restaurant “Crush” in Seattle so we’re very much looking forward to his selection of courses that match with his favorite Washington wine.

The annual meeting runs through Friday at the Three Rivers Convention Center in the Tri-Cities.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
