Email Questions

Welcome to Vine to Wine, I’m your host Linda Moran and today we opening our email bag and answering our listeners questions about everything from balance to vermouth.

Our first email question today is from a listener who asks “You often refer to a wine as being balanced, what does that mean exactly?” I’m sorry you missed the program devoted to explaining balance; but in a nutshell it is an even, harmonious taste and mouthfeel, all sensations exhibit pleasant relationships between the acids, tannins, alcohol and sugars in the wine. And that is good. A second listener asks “I have a new girlfriend who is nuts about wine – I know nothing and have told her so. I just know what I like. But I want to impress her with a great bottle of wine for dinner. She says she likes white burgundy. What does this mean?” Well sir, it means that I have only one word for you, Montrachet, spelled MONTRACHET. Go to a wine shop, ask for a good recommendation, and be prepared to pay whatever it takes. Good Luck! Now for one last quick question “My friend told me that vermouth is wine, is it?” Yes, it is a fortified wine. Send your wine questions to linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
