Lots of research and production information coming at Washington/IOregon Potato Conference

Farm and Ranch December 18, 2009 It is only just over a month now until the first annual Washington/Oregon Potato Conference. Andy Jensen, Director of Research for the Washington State Potato Commission highlights some of the topics that will be covered in the conference’s general session January 27th.

Jensen: “Well this year like many years we have a wide range of different presentations. Things on nutrition of potatoes. There is a project on how to increase the vitamins in potatoes. There is also the usual pest management presentations having to do with management of insects and disease. We have some presentation on nitrogen use and potassium fertility in the field. You name it. There are quite a few different types of topics being presented this year with speakers from all over the country.”

And of course there will be pesticide credits available.

Jensen: “We have two full days. There are four sessions, two in the mornings, two in the afternoons and there will be at least a little bit of pesticide credits for each session.”

The general session on the 27th will also have the keynote address by Todd Bucholz, entrepreneur, author, educator and former White House economic advisor whose address will be New Ideas from Dead CEOs.

This first ever Washington/Oregon Potato Conference is January 26th through the 28th at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, Washington.
