National Wheat Growers CEO moving on
Farm and Ranch October 7, 2009 National Association of Wheat Growers Chief Executive Officer Daren Coppock has announced his resignation. Coppock, an Oregon native, will become president and CEO of the Agricultural Retailers Association as of January 1st of 2010. He’d been at NAWG since 2001. National Association of Wheat Growers president, Klamath Falls, Oregon grower Karl Sconce, says it was known Coppock was leaving before the official announcement Friday so the organization was thinking about a process to fill the position. Scronce: “And we are kind of steering towards accepting resumes, advertising the job ourselves and see if we can fill that position with an applicant.” Scronce couldn’t say if there would be changes in the duties of a new CEO. Scronce: “One thing about Daren Coppock is he was very knowledgeable in many areas. He sort of specialized in biotechnology and research and research funding. I am not sure we can count on getting somebody that is just like him. I think we are going to see want the applicants look like. Fill it with a good person for the job and go from there. One thing we do know is the staff at NAWG is a small staff so the CEO is going to have to be multi-talented.” Coppock will be full time at NAWG through October and then be part-time until December 31st.
