Loan for a Silo
I don’t know why I’ve gotten on this tear, but somebody needs to shake this bureaucratic language out of a tree and get to the meat of the issue. I saw an announcement from the Farm Service Agency filled with legalize like quote “FSA announced that changes to the Farm Storage Facility Loan (FSFL) program have been implemented in accordance with the 2008 Farm Bill. It’s about a loan for a silo. I called spokesman Ron Abbott and after a lot of mumbo jumbo, I tried to repeat back what was said. “OK. That’s pretty simple. A guy has a huge wheat crop, he goes I need to store some of this, where do I store it, you guys will loan him some money so he can store it in a nice silo, am I getting the gist of it? Yup! You are. Until commodity prices either rebound or until he sells his crop. You actually blurred btwo parts of our program together. That’s cause I’m drunk. (Laughter from Ron) And you can still work that way, I want to know how you can do that. I’m not drunk. What’s next? Your scenario, the producer’s got a bumper crop of wheat or knows one’s coming and says I need a bigger grain bin, I need vto go to FSA and get a loan for that. He does, we process the loan, we say OK build it, he does, we loan him the money to pay off his contractors and we charge him a small amount of interest and he has 7, 10 or 12 years. Ron…stop talking. Yup. You’ve clarified everything I want to know. Don’t confuse me by saying another word. Yup! Now you all get it too. Yay!
