Twitter Farming
If you listen to these reports frequently, you’ll be familiar with a recurring theme that worries about the fact that young kids are not following in their parents’ footsteps as it relates to farming. For whatever reason, kids want to go to town and it’s hard to blame them because that’s where the action is…unless the action comes to them via modern technology. Farm owner and colorful communicator Mary Rolfing fills us in. “In some ways, 21st century farming is a return to a lot of farming practices late 19th early 20th century on one hand and new practices on the other using new technologies for instance using a lot more direct marketing, using computers, internet, e-mail, Twitter, Face Book, that sort of thing as a way to begin to get food from the farm to the plate. I think that has a lot to do with the new farming that’s happening.”
