Brunch Part 2

Brunch Part 2

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. Today we are continuing our series about Brunch and the wines that go best with it.
As I said yesterday, I think Brunch is a great way to entertain at home. The food is simple or as extravagant as you want it to be. Recently I had the best bloody-Mary I had ever tasted and when I asked the mixologist she informed me that it was no wonder I liked it as it had a shot of Merlot along with a shot of vodka. It truly gave an added dimension to the drink that was very good prior to the meal. In fact I was thinking I would love it with a burger as well. So anyway, just another way to get wine involved. I enjoy grilling sausages and loaves of bread stuffed with everything from ham and eggs to crab and cheese. These grilled breads are quite pleasant with dry white wines that are slightly oaked such as Chardonnay. Another classic brunch food is of course waffles. We like to have bowls of ingredients to add to the batter before you grill the waffle such a bacon, green onions, parmesan cheese, blueberries and chopped nuts especially pecans.
It really adds interest to the waffle and it makes a nice compliment to sparkling wine and fruit drinks. Chambord or raspberry liqueur mixed with sparkling wine is great when you top the waffles with whipped cream. Next time you want to have folks over, think about a Brunch. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at Vine to Wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
