11/7/08 New Favorite

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As most of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. Why spend my time sipping wine I just don't like? On today's program I want to tell you about two wines from Fidelitas that I have been drinking and sharing quite a bit lately. I am crazy for Fidelitas wines made by Charlie Hoppes a winemaker who has a winery on Red Mountain in Washington state. Charlie is a winemaker of great respect in our state and he is making my new favorite wines. The two are vineyard designated wines. Both are Cabernet Sauvignon based one is made from grapes grown at Champoux vineyards and the other is from grapes grown at Boushey Vineyards. A vineyard designated wine is a way for a winemaker to pay homage to a grower he or she particularly admires. I have long been a fan of the fruit coming from Boushey vineyards and was delighted to see that one of the winemakers I admire was feeling the same way. The Boushey wine is rich and supple with nice chewy tannins. The Champoux wine has a brightness about it that really made me pay attention and look forward to each sip. Although I believe the Boushey is sold out if you hurry you may still be able to get some Champoux vineyard designated wine by contacting Fidelitas winery. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
