Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. On today's program we are going to look at an Oregon and named Lemelson Vineyards. Lemelson Vineyards and the winery are located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Although I have not yet visited it I have every intention of doing so. You see after I did the series a few weeks back addressing much of the wine industry's sincere attempts to grow and produce wine in an environmentally responsible manner a friend asked if I had been to visit Lemelson Vineyards in Oregon. Although I had read the Pinot Noir from this winery was very good I didn't know much more than this. So I did some research and have found this to be a growing enterprise spearheaded by a fascinating man named Eric Lemelson. He has a long and earnest background addressing concern for the environment and its future. His passion for Pinot Noir and how well he believes Oregon is suited to it has driven him to create vineyards which practice both organic and sustainable growing methods. His winery is built on a model of gravity-flow and is currently producing 14,000 cases of wine. The winery uses solar panels to have successfully reduced its power consumption thirty-five to forty percent. This sounds like a fascinating place to visit. The winery is just outside Carlton Oregon and the tasting room is open by appointment only. I think this sounds like a road trip! Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
