When the some of the hundreds of blue and gold clad Future Farmers of America returned to Idaho from their national convention they brought back some awards. First the Idaho FFA received a membership growth award for increasing its numbers to four thousand young men and women.
TOUCHSTONE "So in ag classes statewide its 60 percent male and 40 percent female. FFA membership is about the opposite, its about 60 percent female, and 40 percent male."
Allison Touchstone is the State FFA advisor. She is obviously proud of the Farm Business Management Team from the Kuna chapter for winning a national championship.
TOUCHSTONE "They take a very long written exam on all sorts of farm business management accounting practices, tax law, anything to do with the actual accounting and numbers of running a farm and making farm business management decisions and they have to work as a team as well as having individual scores in that particular event."
Casey Zufelt took third place in the individual portion of the business management competition. Prepared public speaker Shalee Killpack from Meridian took second prize in that category. That national convention in Indianapolis drew more than 50 thousand from across the nation.
