Boise based PakSense has combined its temperature monitoring technology with HarvestMark to provide the UltraT3, a system that does three things simultaneously. First, says PakSense Business Development Director Theresa Willerup it complies with country of origin labeling requirements.
WILLERUP "But it also keeps track of the records that are required on both the shipping and receiving end to be able to track that COOL information through the supply chain. Secondly it gives you full traceability farm to fork or processing line to fork. And then finally it integrates the temperature monitoring so now that you get full visibility of the product and how it was handled through the supply chain."
They say in the event of a food safety or temperature abuse incident, brand owners can use the serial numbers and codes to easily notify retailers if a product is at risk of being compromised and then have the suspect product isolated.
WILLERUP "This tomato incident that occurred recently and you start calculating the return on investment on all of the lost tomato shipments that were experienced during that time it very quickly pays for itself."
