After the Labor Day weekend families across the nation found themselves back into the swing of things, and for many this means getting the kids ready for school and out the door. One of the main concerns for parents with school age children is making sure that they have a nutritious school lunch. With the ever rising cost of groceries a lot of us are going to have to get quite creative indeed when packing those school lunches. The last several years have brought an array of time saving prepackaged lunchables, but along with everything else the prices for prepackaged foods has skyrocketed while their contents have dwindled. Most schools still offer a hot lunch program and several parents will opt out for this over having to pack lunches, although the price for school lunches has also risen. But for many parents who fear that their child's school prepared lunch will mostly end up in the waste can, going back to packing lunches from bulk foods is the economical way to go. Who knows, it could also be a good lesson for kids in economics, nutrition and budgeting.
