08/28/08 Going Green; Seeing Red

Does seeing how to go "green" with just about everything everywhere occasionally make you see "red"? I agree that everyone needs to do their part to help alleviate unnecessary waste and be more environmentally conscious on a day to day basis. But the bombardment of green guidelines and how-to's can sometimes be overwhelming to say the least. Consider these recent green headlines for example: How to Green Your Furniture, How to Green Your Work, How to Green Your Wardrobe, How to Green your Personal Care, and how about, How to Green Your Sex Life. Now come on! That should already be about as natural as it can get! My family already eats organic, uses organic cleaning products, has replaced all incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs, shops with reusable shopping bags, and recycles everything but the dog and cat. It takes us nearly a month to acquire even one bag of trash. So why do I feel strangely guilty, as if I haven't done my part towards saving the planet? Say, can guilt be green?
