Farm and Ranch August 8, 2008 The 2009 Washington State Potato Conference will continue a focus on sustainable farming, what it means and its impacts on production farming. As conference board member Karen Bonaudi details, that is reflected in the choice of the keynote speaker for the 2009 event, Paul Dolan.
Bonaudi: "He actually comes from a wine background but is a 4th generation grower, so he really knows it from the ground up, as it were. He is going to be speaking about "Triple Bottom Line: Economics, Environment and Social Equity." So he is addressing the issues all of our growers are facing."
In a 2003 book titled "True to Our Roots: Fermenting a Business Revolution", Dolan wrote, "I see the world of business in transition&from a traditional to a sustainable approach. Business-approached sustainability can be the driver and the leader that helps create that new world."
Bonaudi again reminds everyone that the Washington State Potato Conference and Trade Show will be in a new location and at a new date for 2009.
Bonaudi: "We are going to be down at the Three Rivers Convention Center, which is Kennewick, one of the tri-cities. We are also going to be a week early. We are starting on the 26th of January instead of February this coming year."
