08/04/08 Youth loans

The Farm Service Agency has a rural youth loan program and FSA loan officer Mike Anderson is about to introduce us to three Canyon County boys who live near Caldwell. ANDERSON "Our youth loans are for kids between the ages of ten and 20. It's for rural youth to get an education in FFA, taking care of animals, 4-H. These boys are prime examples of some of the boys that come into the office and girls that participate in our program." HUNGATES "Hi I'm Paul Hungate and I'm eleven. I'm Drake Hungate and I'm twelve. I'm Chad Hungate and I'm nine." ANDERSON "They the knowledge and ability at a young age. I feel they're going to go a long ways with this, gain additional knowledge in raising cattle and also the learning experience of raising cattle." When he turns ten in November Chad can take out his first loan. CHAD "I'm learning how to take care of them and when to. How much they pay and when to get them and when they calf. After I pay off the loan with the money that the calves bring I'm going to buy more calves." The Hungate brothers are business veterans. More tomorrow. Voice of Idaho Agriculture Bill Scott
