07/07/08 Aberdeen twilight tour

The University of Idaho and the USDA Agricultural Research Service will have a Twilight Tour at the Aberdeen Research Center next week. It's open to all from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 16th. ARS Research Leader Mike Bonman says there's plenty to see and do, including sampling French fries from various potato varieties. BONMAN "We're trying to get a broader segment of the community to come by and we're trying to design some interesting booths and activities for the whole family. We're going to have a display of the UDSA trout-grains project where we'll have some trout on display that were grown on plant based diets. The look just like regular trout. And we'll also have some samples of smoked trout that people can try." The Idaho Barley Commission will have a booth displaying barley food items and will be giving away some food samples. There are demonstrations and information for the non farming community on lawn care, irrigation, weed control in the garden and lawn, personal finance and nutrition. Field and lab tours are also part of the July 16th tour along with door prices and games. Today's Idaho Ag News Bill Scott
