Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and as many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time.
I just don't waste my time drinking wine that I don't like. Just last evening I had some wines made by Charlie Hoppes at Fidelitas, a winery on Red Mountain in Washington state and I wanted to share my observations.
When it comes to talented wine making and consistently delicious wines I know I can rely on Charlie Hoppes winemaker and owner of Fidelitas to give me what I am looking for. And what I am looking for is great fruit that has not been overshadowed by the winemaking process and enough oak to give character but not turn the wine into a molten vanilla dessert. I don't think it is too much to ask and apparently Charlie knows what I like. The wine we had was Fidelitas 2005 Boushey Vineyard red wine. The blend is 53% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. This collaboration between grower Dick Boushey and winemaker Charlie Hoppes is one to be noticed. This wine is spicy, lush and supple and no pun intended but the finish is truly memorable. You might want to get some while you still can. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at Vine to Wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
