Billboard Fracas & More Occupation Fallout

Billboard Fracas & More Occupation Fallout. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

A pair of billboards promoting an advocacy group's website violate federal rules since it's being funded by the Environmental Protection Agency. The advocacy groups whatsupstream.com website goes after agriculture for water pollution issues and uses the site to send a message to local elected officials. Washington Dairy Federations's Jay Gordon says that's a violation.

GORDON: They were told a year and half before in an extensive review and engagement you need to take a look and make sure you're not doing this and then a year and half later they green lighted this thing again. EPA knew - EPA was warned and again it just goes back to..."Ok guys, what's the big message you are sending here?" Our producers certainly should take a look at this, farmers should decide how they feel about it - I know how I feel about it.

Additional videos have been released from the traffic stops involving Lavoy Finnicum during the January armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The videos were shot by Ryan Bundy on his cellphone and give a clear picture of the interaction between Finnicum and law enforcement officials. The group was arrested on January 26 as they drove to meet with occupation sympathizers. The videos do not show the shootout with officials that took the life of Finnicum.

That's today's Northwest Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
