Good News for US Ethanol Industry

“With this RVO proposal, EPA is putting out the volumes of renewable fuel that would be required to be blended by obligated parties, those being refiners and importers. And what we see with those volumes that EPA proposed is 15 billion gallons for conventional renewable fuels like corn ethanol in both 2026 and 2027 and then big increases in the volume of advanced biofuels, and that's primarily due to an increase in what EPA will require in terms of biomass-based diesel blending.”
Cooper says it's good news for ethanol producers and corn growers, as the proposal removes excess biodiesel from the market fuel that had been occupying part of the 15 billion gallon RFS volume originally met for corn ethanol.
“So bigger volumes for advanced biofuels pull that volume out of the 15 billion gallon bucket and really create more space, more room for corn ethanol to continue growing toward 15 billion gallons.”
