A chat with beef producer Lisa Wilsey. Tell me about your operation itself. Speaker2: We have a traditional cow calf operation. In addition to that, we sell grass fed and now grain fed American Wagyu. Speaker1: Does that mean you have fewer hormones and antibiotic injections? Speaker2: So anything that's given antibiotics is taken out of the program completely, and then no additional hormones, just their naturally occurring. Speaker1: Tell me about the retail side people get in touch with. They come out. Tell me about that part of your operation. Speaker2: So we have a online store that we sell through. And then my parents had been doing it for probably close to 20 years. So there is customers who have been with us since then. And then we're also a part of the Boise Farmers Market. Speaker1: Do you move a lot of merchandise down there? Speaker2: Yes, it's a very busy market. Speaker1: What were the government lying to us all the time? Wars raging all over the world. Inflation. Are you noticing differences in the spending habits of your clientele, such as hoarding meat? Speaker2: There's a lot more conscious spending, but we've really seen a large uptick since the pandemic of people buying in bulk. They'll buy larger quantities instead of just a single package of meat. A lot of halves and wholes of cattle is what people are purchasing. I think with the pandemic, it really did show us all that the food chain is unreliable. Speaker1: So the best cut of meat you can get American Wagyu available at Wilseyranch.com
