Todd Points and his friend Eric Anderson had a chance to take their dogs to a place up in Montana that sounds like Paradise. Four of us. Speaker2: Used to go on this trip. We always chartered a plane and flew, so two guys dropped out this year had conflicts, and Eric and I looked at each other. That's a big check to write for two guys to split a private plane. So we loaded up our pups, lefty and Lily. Lefty is a little older one, and Lily's not quite one. She's a pudelpointer. Another product of Bob Ferris's breeding and Lefty's my new Hunting Dog, which is a golden retriever. But the old school working golden retrievers, I found her. There's a breeder down in northern Utah that doesn't breed for coat and colour breeds for prey drive and working dogs. And lefty might weigh £45. And she may have the most prey drive I've ever seen in a dog in my life. So Eric and I load these dogs up. We drive through 3 or 4 blizzards. It's about a ten hour drive to get there, and we really don't know what to expect. We made an afternoon hunt first day we were there and lefty and I got three birds out of it, and Eric might have scratched 1 or 2 and got a really good retrieve from his dog. And we spent the next three days, full days, just hunting as hard as we could. And I think we walked somewhere north of 30 miles in three and a half days. And some of this is in cattails that are eight feet tall. It couldn't went any better for our pups. They got more exposure to wild birds and hunting in three days. I don't know if I could see that many birds in three years in the Treasure Valley. Speaker1: And both dogs performed beautifully.
