Recycling time. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
For the past several days we have been talking with Joe Hoffman, Program Coordinator for the Washington State Department of Agricultures Waste Pesticide Disposal Program. Joe says that in addition to disposing of harmful pesticides, the Department can link you up to several recyclers since fruitgrowers and producers seem to collect a number of large plastic containers.
HOFFMAN: Their website is www dot nwagplastics all as one word, dot com. And then they have the recycling schedule and how to prep the containers and all of that on the website there. And there is no charge for that.
You can link from the WSDA's web site.
HOFFMAN: And then there's one other link from our website which is an important one, it's a thing called Earth 911. And what that is, is a website that's a non-profit. It's run out of Phoenix with a lot of donations from a lot of companies and a person can go on the web to earth911.org, enter their zip code, and then that's where they can find out about recycling motor oil or getting rid of household chemicals or other things.
Hoffman says that eventually the Ag recycling sites will be listed on the Earth 911 site but for now it's more of a homeowners recycling clearinghouse.
HOFFMAN: That's kind of a sidelight to our program but we try to interlink between these programs because it might be something we don't take but it can be taken by someone else.
That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
