Washington Farm Bureau Mission Pt 1

From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. Washington Farm Bureau leadership is diving hard into the new year in an effort to bring a solid policy message to Olympia from everyone in agriculture.

WFB CEO and Secretary, Ron Saacke says that policy is set by the membership …

SAACKE … “Those things that we’re working on organizationally, you know, from our board of directors were really pushed by our members that were saying we need to be more impactful, we need to have programs that meet the needs of tomorrow’s agriculture, you know, as much as today’s.”

The biggest challenge, Saacke says is our diversity …

SAACKE … “So even though we’ve had a lot of battles here in the state, probably, you know, our number one battle is often times the different sides of agriculture not coming together and working together towards common goals. And so that’s really what the leadership here has focused on.”

Bringing everyone together, Saacke says is hard sometimes …

SAACKE … “Because what’s good for one part of the industry is not always good for every part of the industry, but you have to look at it in the majority sense and every type of agriculture is important. It doesn’t matter how small it is. It doesn’t matter what kind of niche it is. We need successful agriculture across the state.”

Tune in tomorrow for more on the 2024 mission of the Washington Farm Bureau.
