Idaho lost more than a million acres of farmland over the last four decades, largely thanks to population growth. It's America's fastest-growing state -- and it's on track to add another 800,000 people by 2060.

But Idahoans broadly dislike this rapid growth and the urban sprawl it brings, according to a brand-new poll. In fact, nearly three-quarters of voters want Idaho's population to expand more slowly (47%) or get smaller (23%), while (56%) want local lawmakers to restrict development so people are less likely to move here. A whopping 95% say it's "very" or "somewhat important" to protect U.S. farmland from development.
