A plea from Jaqueline Koch of the National Wildlife Federation to address the issue of dams that are located on the lower Snake River. Jaqueline says there is a compromise that can be made that is very viable.

In Washington State, which is where these dams are located. The Governor and Senator Patty Murray have released the report that notes the services of these dams. The services that these dams provide can be replaced. And this is really exciting and this should be exciting to anyone because this report tells us that there is a solution within reach and that we can save these runs. So it's a historic opportunity. It's one that has mobilized people across the region. And what we really need to do is to connect with our elected leaders, to let them know that we want a comprehensive regional solution to restore salmon. Salmon are the beating heart of the Northwest iconic rivers, and they are the foundation of so many of our communities and so many memories and experiences for the people who come to fish here. So it's time for our lawmakers to get serious about the recovery that we want to have around salmon. Speaker1: The issue is so important to so many people who are divided.
